I am a huge Kanye fan. I appreciate good music. My favorite Kanye album is Graduation and I have all of them. My favorite Kanye song is Last Call (yeah all 12.41 minutes. I love hearing how people have struggled to come up in the game. Shit just motivates me.) But I like current Kanye more than retro Kanye if I had to pick 1.

I choose Graduation and 808's & Heartbreak Kanye. First off, I love pee-wee herman so he got points with that one. And on Graduation he sampled Steely Dan on Champion. Anyone who knows music knows that Steely Dan is a GREAT group. That sold it for me...
ReplyDeletemy vote goes to current Kanye, he just seems more polished, musically as well as style wise. I mean retro Kanye was good, dont get me wrong its just obvious he took a step up and kinda evolved into current Kanye.
ReplyDeleteI'm a 2 [Late Registration], 3 [Graduation], and 4 [808s and Heartbreak] Kanye Fan. 808's had to grow on me honestly, but as he further polished his songs, the more I grew to like the new sound. When Love Lockdown FIRST dropped, yu kould here the nonsense. But as he started to progress in the art of what he was doing, I started to enjoy it.
ReplyDeleteCollege Dropout was only ok to me, but honestly, I only heard it when I was 14 and I was't on hip hop yet. Late Registration is GOLDEN! Graduation is PLATINUM.. hopefully 808s can content.
My absolute fav album is late registration...so I would have to go for the college dropout and late registration era. It seems during this time of his musical career he was finding himself, developing into the uber talented artist he is today!! I'm a Kanye whore and I enjoy all of his music!!!

Retro Kanye I think was still trying to play by the hip hop rules especiially college dropout (though its a classic) but now, he's really doing his thing.

ReplyDeleteRetro Kanye is my pick. Who doesn't love classic Kanye? This is who Kanye is at heart. College Dropout was phenomenal, I still listen to that today. Being a college student, I can relate to EVERYTHING kanye speaks on in that albulm, " ...Back to school, and I hate it here, I hate it here... ReplyDeleteHowever, let it not go unsaid that I do agree with previous commentators. He has evolved into something new and innovative, and he is a BIT more polished. He gets points for that. Ultimately though, I favor classic Kanye... Original Kanye, at his best.
I'm picking new Kanye... I am an avid believe that your experiences shape you. From what he's presented us all of these years, Kanye is a person who allows himself to feel & go through every emotion without trying to guard himself. He wears his heart on his sleeve. And I think those experiences have enabled him to grow & develop as an artist. Really incredible stuff comes through my speaker box when I'm listening to him. New Kanye & the future Kanye... that's my pick.

I'm into new Kanye...I think back then he was hot too but I feel that he has grown so much musically and emotionally...I love the fact that he appreciates art and design and thinking outside of the box now more than ever! I get sick of the same old thing and I like to look at life from all aspects and I feel like New 'Ye is giving us that...Some ppl may not feel or understand kid but I think that with this new album we're getting the true raw emotions of Kanye and not the usual "I'm rich and better than you" Kanye...(Ya'll remember that Vibe shit!) I hope that he continues to advance and gives us the goodies b/c I'm intrigued by what he has to offer music right now...
